Among other things, so-called "sleep hygiene" is also important for peaceful sleep at night. So, in addition to factors such as volume & climate in the bedroom, the bed linen is also crucial for a restful sleep. Especially with cheap bedding made of polyester or other artificial fabrics, sleep can be negatively affected by the lack of temperature equalization at night. Therefore, bedding for weighted blankets should be made of the most natural materials possible. 

Since it is often a bit more difficult to wash a heavy blanket in the machine, it is therefore all the more important to use a weighted blanket with a removable changeable cover. This can be easily removed from the weighted duvet and cleaned with the "normal" bedding in the washing machine.

First of all, a cover for weighted blankets usually resembles the covers for "normal" blankets. The biggest difference, however, are the loops inside the cover. These loops can usually be linked to the blanket, ensuring that is held securely inside the cover. 

Weighted blankets without loops often have the disadvantage of being able to move freely inside the cover. Due to the weight of the blanket, it can happen that, for example, when "pulling up" the blanket during sleep, only the cover is pulled and the weighted duvet remains in place. This causes the duvet to move involuntarily during the night and you wake up the next morning with a half-empty cover. 

When buying a weighted blanket, it is therefore important that it has loops or eyelets so that the cover can be easily linked. But the number of these contact points in the blanket is also crucial. For example, the LEVIA blanket can be linked to the LEVIA cover at 12 points. If a weighted blanket has fewer linking points, the blanket can move more between these points and the weight distribution of the weighted blanket will be all the more unfavorable.

Besides the "construction" of the cover, the material is also an important factor. Blanket covers made of cotton, for example, have the advantage that the natural fiber has a "temperature balancing" effect. In this way, the cotton fiber is particularly breathable. This has the advantage that weighted blankets with cotton covers can more easily absorb moisture during the night. This way, there is always an optimal temperature under the blanket, which supports restful sleep. 

Blanket covers for weighted blankets made of polyester or fleece often feel soft and cuddly, but are often too warm at night. With bedding made of artificial materials, the heat often accumulates under the sheet and can become very uncomfortable, especially in summer.

The bedding for weighted blankets can be washed quite simply, as with a normal blanket in the washing machine. One of the things to consider is the temperature of the machine. Not every cover can be washed very hot. However, the care instructions on the label of the cover are always important here. 

Also, covers for weighted blankets should usually be washed "inside out". This has two advantages: On the one hand, covers with colors bleach less quickly. On the other hand, the cover should always be turned inside out before covering the weighted blanket, as this makes it easier to tie the loops to the weighted duvet. 

Blanket covers with "structure", such as the LEVIA flannel covers, however, must actually always be washed inside out. In this way, the long fibers of the flannel fabric are preserved and do not "knot" when washing and drying the cover. And it is precisely these long fibers that warm the body particularly effectively on cold nights. So the better a cover is cared for, the longer you can enjoy it.

Of course, your existing favorite cover can also be used for the LEVIA weighted blanket. However, it is important that this cover contains 12 loops inside. These can be sewn quite easily yourself or by a tailor in the cover. Also, the cover should measure at least 140x200 cm for the LEVIA blanket and 155x220 cm for the LEVIA XL blanket. Covers with 135x200 cm can theoretically also be used, but the weighted duvet could then be a little "squeezed" on each side. 

With a little hand for sewing or a trusted tailor, nothing stands in the way of using your own blanket cover for the therapy blanket. But if you prefer to have it simple and fast, you should use the LEVIA bed linen.
